The Chapel was built in 1835 and was still in use in the year 2000 with services being held at 10.45am and 2.30pm on Sundays.

In memory of William GADSBY upwards of 38 years Minister of the Baptist Chapel, Rochdale Road, Manchester died January 27th 1844 aged 71 His last words were "I shall soon be with Him, shouting Victory! Victory! Victory! for ever! Free Grace! Free Grace! Free Grace!" In memory of Elizabeth GADSBY relict of William GADSBY died March 16th 1851 in the 80th year of her age "In Christ there dwells a treasure all divine, and matchless grace has made that treasure mine" In his desk was found a slip of paper on which was the following in his own handwriting: Let this be put on my stone `Here rests the body of a sinner base Who had no hope but in electing grace The love, blood, life and righteousness of God Was his sweet theme and this he spread abroad`

Jesse ROWBOTTOM (died 11 Nov 1896) and James ROWBOTTOM (died 14 May 1849) were brothers, the sons of Moses ROWBOTTOM of Moorside Farm Chisworth.

James ROWBOTTOM (died 22 Dec 1929), Peter ROWBOTTOM (died 26 Dec 1927) and Sarah BEELEY (died 18 Mar 1927) were children of Jesse ROWBOTTOM (died 11 Nov 1896) and his wife Elizabeth.

Jane BEARD (died 3 Jul 1907) was the daughter of Thomas ROWBOTTOM, a brother of James and Jesse ROWBOTTOMDavid BEARD, Annie Jane BEARD, Jessy Rowbottom BEARD, Ruth BEARD as well as Elizabeth Alice JACKSON were all children of Robert and Jane BEARD.

James ROWBOTTOM (died 14 May 1849) was the great great grandfather of Peter ROWBOTTOM who contributed this information. (top)

 Elizabeth WOOD, Mary Howard DUTTON and Fanny May CLEGG were three of the six  daughters of John Edwin and Sarah Ann SWALLOW.

Edwin SWALLOW and Percy SWALLOW were two of John Edwin and Sarah Ann's sons.

Sarah Ann SWALLOW nee WOOD was one of the sisters of Samuel WOOD, who was the Great Grandfather of Elizabeth NOVITSDKI

Coincidentally, Samuel and his older brother Ralph were wheelwrights and undertakers in Charlesworth and took care of the arrangements for the funeral of John Edwin SWALLOW. (top)
